I am inclined to think that the India anti-terrorist forces were ill-prepared for this attack, but overall I am overwhelmed by the level of hate, and coordination, that this attack demonstrates.

This is somewhat different from the type of attack that Pakistani terrorists usually pull in India, so probably India was caught off guard.

Urban warfare against radicals who don't care about human life tends to put the defending/neutralizing forces at a serious disadvantage with regards to the tactics which can be safely used. I am guessing that even the US military would find an urban warfare situation challenging. It not easy to safely raid a building; just look at what happened at the Waco siege in the 90's.

As I mentioned earlier, the F15 and F16 are older aircraft that rely on electronic-avionics improvements for their lethality. Flying VFR, fighting without AWAC coverage, and denied the use of any long range sensors one hardly expects a 1970s era aircraft to beat one from the 1990s or 2000s. Hell, in our own Air Force exercises like Red Flag under similar rules our A10s beat F15s and F16s because they are far more manuverable and can out trun and out gun the fighters. On the other hand, in any sort of real world engagement an A10 would get splashed by an F15 or F16 before it ever even had the chance to see it.

First things first, the fall of Russia as a super power was caused by many factors with the most important factor being the expense of keeping up with the United States arms build up. It is true that we should be looking at history because right now, Russia is and they see we are weak economically and they are building relations with many resource rich nations that never have liked us much. Many threads ago I wrote about the battle lines being drawn with the teams being decided. Russia voted to approve allowing Putin to serve as President a third term, this may be the straw that breaks the camels back as I believe Putin is as nuts as Irans leader. We very well may find ourselves up against Russia, Iran, venazuala, Cuba, Syria, Pakistan, and many other countries if we are not careful. Cina is a wild card, will they side up with Russia and demand bond payment or right the debt off and make agreements to take the equal value in coal pending a successful winning of such war? Lets face it, China has a heavy need for coal and we happen to have the worlds largest coal reserves. Exciting time to be alive!

Mainly, I worry about her--always and ever.
Of course you do! There are several precautions Ellie must take if she decides to camp solo...or if camps with others for that matter.

She has intuition and must learn to develop this sense. She can accomplish this by ...first considering her surroundings. Always become really aware of where you are. This means visiting the spot multiple times, for a day trip, with friends or family camping...etc. She should hike through area, familiarizing herself with plants, animals, elements...even the sky. If there are other people in the area, she should study them. Note their actions, how they camp, etc. In the future, this exercise will aid her in recognizing when someone is "out of place". She should always be in touch and listen to her intuition.

Personally, if I were to camp alone in a truck with only my dog accompanying me, I would feel safest far away from people. The more remote (away from people), the better. It is easier to contend with animals and the environment than it is a human predator. There are precautions she can take to ward off large prey like bears and mountain lions...as well as smaller prey, like raccoons. The less she has to use a gun or rifle, the better her chances of not accidently shooting herself, or Bentley.

I used to suba dive often. There is an absolute rule, called the "buddy rule" or system... Divers never dive alone. Divers always dive with a Buddy. My husband and I were not compatible buddies. He liked to swim fast through the ocean...and I haven't a clue as to how he enjoyed himself, but he did. I on the other hand liked to swim slow and explore the ocean bed, and just stare at the seaweed forests and watch fish swim...it was like watching a ballet. Just beautiful. We usually went diving with other couples, because one of us always had to compromise our dives to accomodate the other.... We are both master divers and can quit manage to

RNG, It is hard to answer your question in the American situation. I am not aware of the amount of regulation there in the past.

In Australia although our first bank was private, Labor governments soon started Commonwealth and State owned banks, They were never monopolies as there were still private banks, Labor governments have tried to regulate Banks after their role in prolonging the Great Depression here.(see Website)
However in recent years the government banks have been privatise. There are now four major banks in a near monoply situation. However the regulations of the past have continued. There is very little future buying and few merchant banks.

As to
Do you think that this would improve or worsen the lot of poorer people of whatever race?
I think Regulations will help the poor whatever race being screw by powerful banks . This is certainly the situation in Australia. What would be the situation in elsewhere, I am not sure but I have never heard of the free market helping the poor.

If you can't install the new WOTLK DVD, you have two fast fix choices.

1. Realize that it is a DVD and not a CD. Buy a DVD player for your system.

2. Download WOTLK from Blizzard. My DVD would not install. Don't know why. I logged into my WoW account on the WoW home page and downloaded the expansion. You will need WoW and BC installed already, be they from CD or the site. You will also need your DVD key. It's in the box the game came in. The download takes several hours. It's easy. Just follow the on screen instructions.

Download this ONLY from Blizzard's official WoW website. Do NOT get it from anywhere else. I don't care who says what, only Blizzard is offering their games for download. If you have already bought the DVD, you will not be charged again or charged any download fee.

On the other hand, I do not see it as so much about job creation per se. I see it as more about rebuilding-building critical national infrastructure. The job creation is simply a fortunate side effect of the effort. WHile I suppose we could do it in the traditional fashion and issue government conracts to private firms to have the work done, I would probably avoid that in this case. Hi Myrddin:

You wrote:
... Christians believe that both God and Satan are separate from Man.
This is part of what tatsu explained to me by coining the phrase 'GOODEVIL' as being all one and ironically it caused me to take the Christian/Western concept of separation and the comments of tatsu to see that while GOODEVIL was certainly all one in that it is the sum total of all of life's actions, those actions can be divided in those which cause life and those which cause death.

Now I have seen you write about how we are all one with the whole of the universe and I do understand and agree with that especially from a physical point of view especially if the concept of a Creator is not taken into account. Daresay I would probably believe that way myself if I didn't believe there was a Creator.

And that is the point of a created existence. The universe was created to give a real life first hand experience to all humans that will have ever lived what kills us and what causes us to live. It will take about 7000+ years for the Creator's plan to develop this reality show in the physical so that we can come to know exactly what is good, that which brings life, and exactly what is evil, that which brings death. When ALL have been properly 'schooled' in this ALL will have to make the choice of either accepting to be made good by the Creator, never to do evil again, or reject a life of only good and die, mercifully, for an eternity.

You wrote:
... the idea of Satan is connected to the idea of removing personal responsibility.
I really don't remember being taught that explicitly when I was a Christian but in retrospect I see now how that was indeed the case especially with those who taught that salvation by grace was all that was needed to 'get into heaven'.

However, now I see that the scriptures speak of life only being possible in the complete and utter absence of evil in an otherwise righteous existence and that the Creator is the onl

Maybe you self proclaimed pro-life people out there can march and protest about the millions of children without health insurance, the ones that are actually on this earth feeling real pain and experiencing real problems. The ones whose parents did not get an abortion because you somehow convinced them they can afford a child on an $8.00/hr sallary. An abortion is a personal choice made by a woman and whatever "god" she chooses or refuses to accept. It is an internal process thats not up to anyone elses "morals" to decide.....things happen condoms fail and pills don't work.
Warts! I got wart stories
Knowing how bad my original remedy hurt Ive been using Wartners wart freeze. It aint workin'. ......

Thanks
I had warts on my knees hands, throughout grammar and high school... Doctors would freeze a few off, but other's would develop. So, I would pick at them..and even cut a few off. Compound W, of course was a waste of money.

My greaat aunt told me to "wish" them away...and... maybe that's what finally did it! They vanished one day while I was in college.

Now...years and years later, I have a plantar wart on my right foot. Sometimes it feels like I stepped on a piece of glass. I bought the Dr. Scholls version of the kit you used. That was about a month ago! After reading the directions, I am a bit afraid to use it... Also, I have to walk on the little pad given in the kit.. What happens if I make a mistake and burn the skin around the wart area. How long does this take to heal.

Let me know Aint!

Native Americans have government paid for health care coverage...as so your Senators, and Congressmen...and the janitor working at city hall. These are all "government" paid for health care programs. While the Native American's isn't golden one compared to your Senator's...it is good. This should be an entire thread all it's own.

I just wanted to mention, the cost of health care coverage (thankyou ;)) for employees by a business...can break that business, or cause it to operate avoiding those costs.

I have had to deal with unions as well. Most of my experience has been positive, because they are excellent workers and in my opinion worth the cost of their salary. But I do take issue with some of the "rules" they demand... Many of these, I have encountered have gotten in the way of conducting commerce...and therefore adding more costs to businesses. For instance, try putting a container on a ship! Now there is an experience. It takes a crew of these guys...who are all capable to move a few crates.

I would have to say that you have a point SCG. I'm young and even still I can't think back to a single time when "love" has done anything for me aside from put me into a position where I either hurt someone or get hurt by someone.

I think we like to buy into the notion of a "soul-mate" and "true love" because we want to believe that there is something in this world that we can attain, which will elevate us to a greater understanding of the world and enrich our lives with eternal happiness. The problem is not in wishing for these things, but expecting them to be born through a relationship with another human being. We, in our very nature, are imperfect beings who make mistakes. This alone disqualifies us from being capable of filling a gaping void in another, especially when the expectation is of perfection. What I find more often then not as the driving force behind this search for the perfect other half, is the result of a person who has failed to achieve self-actualization or is simply unfulfilled.

The voids we find within us are likely the result of other things in our lives that we failed to do for ourselves, or were deprived of, and are not likely to be filled by forming a relationship with another person. To expect another person to fill such a void and be our perfect mate, is well... unfair.

I won't say that "soul-mates" and "true love" do not exist, but I will say that I have never seen or experienced either of them. As far as my ongoing field study known as life is concerned, my conclusions can only go as far as to suggest that while they aren't likely to exist, I cannot know for sure.

As for the definition of what love is... well that's hard to say. For some love is an action. A mutual exchange in which both parties gain. For others it translates to the willingness of one individual to place the needs of another before his own. What's interesting about it, is that it can only exist within the confines of a relationship. Are relat

I've had a blackberry since 2004! I could not live without the device. While in China last month, I was able to post from it right here on FM! In 2002 when I was in China, at a time when at home, cell phone service was sometimes iffy...like dropped calls, the cell phones in China were so miniscule, people wore them around their necks! I called the US using such a device, and it was awesome! I haven't seen them in the states..yet! I doubt I would purchase one now, as I am too used to having "everything" at my finger tips!

Mergers will have to occur, I want the new Blackberry Bold, which is 3G, but is only offered by ATT...due to a contractual agreement, AND ATT has kept up with technology. It will be months before T Mobile offers this...and my new bold will probably run "slower" than if I switched to ATT...

I doubt you are too old....but you do have to keep up. A friend of mine "was" a programmer for My Space, for several years until "technology" took over his job. He could not keep up with the technology brought by the use of iphones. He is now back in programming school. It never ends..

Good luck!

 Hello WindDancer,

Well what can I say ?

I am just trying to help ?

In understanding my bible , and trying to figure out why there
is so much difference in religion , I can see why there are so
many non - believers !

Religion some times does more harm then good !
People are trying to save them self, thinking God needs help.

People from the beginning of time have told God they can do it there self !
And if they want to do it then they have to pay the consequences ! God of the bible has told man right from the start what HE wants man to do.
But man keeps telling God that he can do it him self.
The rules are very easy !
But man does not want rules.

God just said it first and man does not like that !

Thanks, George. Your symptoms do sound a lot like mine.

My doctor and neurologist (and web sources) have all said that with neuralgia and ISH people can sometimes manage just fine with less than 300mg per day of just about every prescription medication prescribed. I'm taking the Gabapentin (Neurontin) 300mg once a day and sometimes skipping a day. The docs said I should try that. Originally, they said I could go as high as 300mg three times a day to get relief.

So far, so good. No more pain. Towards the end of a skipped day I do sometimes feel a 1 second tingle in the same area I used to feel pain. It doesn't come with anywhere near the same frequency of occurrence though.

I'd like to try going down to 100mg once or twice a day and then down from there. The less I have to take, the better.

No noticeable side effects so far. My balance is great. No sleepiness. No mood changes. No weight gain or swelling.

One thing that does still concern me is the possibility of a misunderstanding of why I'm on this medication. It is used to treat various mental disorders and as part of a methamphetamine detox program. I'd hate to be incapacitated and not given the most appropriate treatment due to false concerns for my mental health or drug problems. I carry my PDA a lot and have put in it that I use this medication for ISH. I'm considering putting a note in my wallet, too.

The doc wants to see me again before Christmas. Maybe we'll do blood work.

 Posted by Dax:
I think the Munchkin hanging himself story has been disproven, but here's why I don't think it's real. There are always a lot of people on a movie set. Even when someone appears to be alone in the desert, you have the director, cameraman, sound man, boom operator, sound editor, lighting man, lighting technicians, gaffers, stagehands, a script girl, craft-services (the food cart), drivers, assistants and assorted hangers on on the set.

So given business as usual on any average day in 1939 Hollywood, someone on that set would have said something.

Particularly among the numerous munchkins who were not seeking to make Hollywood careers for themselves, and so could talk freely.

So I say it's all pretty much a made up story, but I'm willing to listen.
