Just make the request.

The culture of corruption, sadly, is prevalent in both Democratic and Republican administrations and always has been.

Even if the President is honest, the men he gathers around him often are not, or are finally unable to resist the lure of power and easy money.

Moreover it has always been so.

This is the age of communication. Information is easier to gather than ever before. It's time to trash public school text books which idealize history and replace them with honest appraisals of our country's leaders, and why their policies did or did not work.

I'll bet that most children entering middle school believe the George Washington cherry tree story. Ironic that the "I cannot tell a lie" story is itself a lie. But much more interesting than just the lie itself. *

The real story of how government is run, how it gets things done, who is good and who is not, would make history much more dynamic for students.

*A clergyman named Parson Weems wrote a children's biography of George Washington in the early 1800's and made up the cherry tree story in hopes that it would set a good example for the young folk.

We could trade smears back and forth but a cogent question is indeed raised by the addition of Berger to the Clinton campaign team.

Why? Why would Clinton decide she wanted Berger, with his history of having stolen documents, destroyed them, thereby tampering with evidence? Does this not raise questions about what sort of White House we could expect under a second Clinton presidency? Would destroying national archive records become the norm...if those records were unfavorable toward the Clintons? Should we anticipate another Filegate? Another travel office scandal? More suicides under suspicious circumstances?

Both political parties are as corrupt as a leperous wound. We know that. Still, it ought to raise a red flag when someone from either party decides to incorporate a person with such a publicly tainted past into their campaign.

Can you imagine the fuss the Democrats would make if John McCain hired Scooter Libby and Karl Rove to advise his campaign?

...and your point is?

With the number of on-going scandals in this country from $$$billions$$$ of lost taxpayers money on the streets of Iraq by Mr. Bremmer to the $$$millions$$$ donated by Hsu to Rodham-Clinton....to the mental break down of Britney Spears, all the way to another O.J. story (which by the way has gone no where)......ALL this in the news, and nay a word regarding a Mr Hunt who gave so generously ($$$billions$$)to the Bush library(among his many contributions to Bush). The same Mr. Hunt who was awarded a sweet oil deal in Kurdistan...

This says a LOT about America in general doesn't it Ray? What happened to our ethics? I have to travel to France and Spain next month, I hope I don't get asked this question...
