"Responsibility for the bloodshed is at the feet of Assad and his regime. And they are the ones who are keeping it going," State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said Thursday. "We want to help the people of Syria have a peaceful alternative, a peaceful way through this, and for Assad to understand that not only does the violence need to end, but that he's lost his right to govern his country, from our perspective."

China and Russia aren't too interested in helping out in Syria. The US, Turkey and France are, and are talking about doing it without the UN.

What exactly will be done is uncertain. I don't see Assad giving up without a fight. He hasn't yet.

Eh, I have a hard time seeing Assad's rule come to an end. His father was as brutal as a dictator as they come, razing the entire city of Hama as an act of revenge during an uprising similar to this, and I'm sure the younger Assad has taken note.

As far as China and Russia? Of course they don't want to get involved as they're Syria's primary arms suppliers.

Coincidentally enough, they are also Sudan's primary arms suppliers.

Assad is a trained eye doctor. He could make a damn good living at that if he'd just step down.

He probably gets off on power and brutality, am I right People??

Yeah, let's take out another nut...and wait for the "freed" people of the land to throw candy and flowers at our soldiers as we rescue them from their fearful leader.

Didn't work in Iraq, and won't work in Syria. We do know from the recent evidence available....that the war in Iraq cost mega buckos. A cost Americans can no longer afford, unless they use their credit cards of course. Of course, for that to work....the few banks left will have to begin unhoarding all OUR money....so we can fight on like real Americans.

Russia is supplying Assad and his killers with arms. Putin will end up smelling like a goat's ass when they finally shoot this little pointy-headed Assad worm in the belly after they find him hiding in a sewer ditch or hole in the ground somewhere. Hope it's soon. The pathetic little brute.
