When I lived in the UK I had unpasturised milk delivered every day from the local dairy farm.
I eventually had to discontinue deliveries because I am mildly lactose-intolerant and I was drinking the delicious creamy milk too much!
In Tenerife I have found a UHT brand of milk that is very creamy, but I can't drink too much of it.
The spread of lactose tolerance in Human Beings is ongoing evidence of evolution in action by the way. The mutation originated in the middle-east around 10,000 years ago among the first farming civilizations and is slowly spreading to the whole Human population. Unfortunately I don't have the gene!
Mines, for most people that are lactose intolerant, "quality" raw milk should not pose a problem for them. By quality, I mean a cow that has been grass fed (organic), not grain fed. Unheated milk contains valuable enzymes and lactase producing bacteria...which are needed (by our bodies) to break down and assimilate lactose. This good bacteria, of course, is destroyed during the pasteurization and homogenization process. Those lactose intolerant are mostly of black and asian decent.
Experts believe there has been a rise in lactose intolerance due to the less healthy diet of the cow. This is all caused by man. First he makes milk unhealthy to drink in it's raw state...then he passes crazy laws to regulate it. When is he going to stop playing God?
