Just take out the competition and there will be no more problems. Right?
That's what the managers of a Dominoes Pizza did in Florida. They burned down the local Papa John's so they would get their customers. The new Pizza Mafia?
So, by the obvious superior intelligence of these managers, (what are their hiring qualifications anyway?) this is the solution to all your business headaches. Brilliant.
I wonder how many Dominoes customers will now flock to the new Papa John's when it re-opens?? BTW. Papa John's rocks. Drivers, managers etc in our area are TOPS. Plus, the pizza is yummy. Dominoes went out of business around here and were horrible at proper customer service. Pizza was eh. So, I am not entirely surprised about this latest crazy story!
So, by all means, follow their example and take out the competition!! Why didn't we think of this before. Be warned. You will be caught and put in jail. One little loophole these geniuses overlooked.
_________________________ Uh...Is it just me...or?
I stopped ordering from Papa John's when they started charging a dollar for delivery and that dollar didn't go to the delivery driver. To me it just seemed like they were using delivery as an excuse to raise prices.
They have to pay for the gas, the delivery truck and its maintenance, etc. Wait, there's no etc. they have to pay for the gas and the delivery truck and its maintenance.
I used my own car and gas when I delivered (for someone else). I did get a cap that was supposed to allow me some leeway with the cops but that never came up.
The pizzas I delivered were excellent and the bills came to about $15 and change so a $20 and keep the change meant I actually didn't do too bad with 5-6 deliveries an hour.
The Papa Johns I used to order came in private cars. So they had to pay for the reusable hot delivery bags and the word delivery in their advertising. Oh, and the magnetic signs they put on the roof of the car. I never asked the delivery guy if he paid for his own gas.
I hope my $1.21 tip covered that. Just kidding, I only ordered pizza when I could afford the tip.

You didn't think about this one too much did you?
Lets assume there is no home delivery on pizza, and each pizza cost x. This price, x, was worked out to cover variable and fixed costs such as staffing, ovens, energy, shop rent, ingredients, and then a profit margin on top of that.
Then, to boost sales, the owner decides to have a delivery service, so he hires more staff for this role. This means his fixed overheads have gone up, so he has to raise his prices to cover this extra cost or risk losing his profits and running at at a loss. Instead of raising the prices on all his pizza's and overcharging his walk in customers, he simply adds an extra fee to those who want the home delivery. So essentially, that $1 you got so worked up about actually does get passed on to the delivery drivers.
Did you assume they don't get paid for delivering pizzas, or did you think that just because they are losers who can't find better jobs that they deserve an additional dollar for every pizza they deliver?
Do yourself a favor and stay at the bottom of rung of society, otherwise you'll face a lot of heartache and dissapointment, idiot.

I'll do myself that favor but as a favor to me why don't you register as something other than anonymous and show us all that when you call someone an "idiot" it might mean that person is an idiot.
I did pizza delivery too. My car. My gas. All my responsibility to keep up and pay for. I forget what they hourly was but it was more than inside waiter. Some nights were good for tips and some weren't.
Delivering take out for a take out service that contracted with various restaurants was were the good tip money was. Still had to handle my own ride and tux. They provided the radio though.
