And once again, you would assume wrong. Arizona police can't just stop any dark skinned person walking down the road and ask them for their "papers".
How many times does it have to be repeated???
And how many times does it have to be asked on this board, what "papers"? Passport? Birth certificate? Social Security Card? (Ok, I will hand you that...as an olive skinned individual often mistaken for Hispanic I would need to be involved in an incident like a parking lot car accident at Home Depot for my citizenship to be called into question by the police.)
Now, could you please give us a citation to the law that says we must have our birth certificate with us or even have a copy of it at all?
I know that if a baby is born in a hospital, the hospital must, by law, create a medical record of the birth, but that record belongs to the hospital and very few people actually ever see their own medical birth record. States require that hospitals or parents file a record for a birth certificate with either the state or local city/town/county clerk (it varies by state) but I know of nothing that actually requires any of us to actually have a copy of it and carry it with us.
Yes, if we are applying or doing certain things such as enrolling in kindergarten or applying for a passport or getting married, we may need to get a copy of that birth certificate but those are all things we choose to do or apply for, they aren't things that we MUST do and even still for many of those there are alternatives to a birth certificate and in many cases, the alternative is preferred, especially when an adult is involved.....And the city/town/county/state can charge us for that copy. But I was never aware that we all HAVE them, especially as my experience has been that we don't all have them.
I was also not aware that we are all supposed to carry our Social Securty Number card with us at all times. As I stated in an earlier post the Social Security Administration has told me that it is best to keep that card in a safe....secure place.
Passports? Are you suggesting we all must apply for and a carry passport if we decide to reside in or visit the state of Arizona?
