Aus, the Cambodians were being oppressed by the communists before our full involvement in the war. The US had as much to do with Pol Pot's uprising as the French. Meaning little to none.
And the US didn't destroy Cambodia. We didn't bomb the urban area's, like we did with North Vietnam.
You want to blame someone for Pol Pot? Blame the communists.
