Anyone ever grow a Carnivorous Creations carnivorous plants kit from Dune Craft? Any carnivorous plants at all? Anything from Dune Craft?
I got a kit as an early Christmas present. It's pretty much a plastic terrarium, peat medium and a variety of carnivorous plant seeds. It came with seed packs that may include Venus Fly Trap, Yellow Trumpet, Hooded Pitcher Plant, Purple Pitcher Plant, Pale Trumpet, Temperate Sundew Plants and Cobra Lillies. This kit is marketed to kids but, whatever.
It'll be about 3 months before anything sprouts. Some of the seeds require a 6 week cool period in the fridge before being sown. It can take a year or more before I have fully functional man eating plants. If you subscribe to this thread, you're in it for a long haul.
I had a Venus Fly Trap when I was a kid. It lived for one summer.
Me and a buddy stumbled into a patch of Venus Fly Traps and Pitcher Plants in a Pine forest in Desoto, Mississippi once. It had to an acre worth, easy. We skirted the edge since we had read it's best not to go trampling through these delicate and increasingly rare patches.
All I know about carnivorous plants is that they like acidic soils, low fertilizer, humidity, filtered sun to shade and need to eat people everyday. I'll post tour dates and times. Hey, free admission.
So right off I see the directions have me sowing all the seed in this maybe 1.5 gallon terrarium. I'm going to follow their directions. If this thing really takes off, I'll be separating and transplanting one day. The seeds are all mixed up so, no planting by specific type.
