Hello Dax,

Well let me say this for our Pastor."Tom"
His wife and family could all do ours , and it would be no
problem...... See the people at our church help each other out.
Since we are in need of some things, even Tom has been over
to fix our computer, or to take it to be fixed when he did
not know how to.
We have had people come over and paint our walls, and all sorts of things. I do fix them a meal if they have time and want to. We are all brothers and sisters in the Lord at our
church.
And we really feel it!!!!!

Even at collection time. Tom says give from your heart.
What you can afford. But only if you can, and to check us out first. To the new people coming in. When Tom see a new face he makes a point to say this, so every one knows.........
Of course he talks clear , not like I do.

I can not comment on Pat Robertson or other American television preachers as we do not have these on our TV. Our local churches could never afford a TV show and except for one hour at 6AM on a Commercial station and some discussion of religion on the government station we have no religion on TV here. Today is Easter Sunday and I have not heard one mention of the religious significance of this on our TV or radio.

This is not to say religion is not tolerated in Australia. Today we have processions, passion plays and way of the cross in our streets. When I was young this was not allow. Priests could not wear their vestiments in public.

All churches need to raise money. Most are very poor with leaking roofs, poor lighting and sound systems. Catholics are use to given coins on the plate. A recent sacfricial giving programn try to raise the contribution to 2.5% of income. It suceeded but it is well below the 10% of some Protestant churches. When we ask for a rise in contribution there were protests in the church. The Accountant was heckled for his poor accounts. The fact he was unpaid and unqualified, may have caused this. People want the best without paying enough. This is the problem of most churches. In addition we must help the poor within our parish and outside. The makes the task of the Church difficult. It is right to scrutnise all accounts and open give to those who make full disclosure. However at least in Australia be a minister or priest is not a way of making money.

Grams, your church sounds exactly like a church is supposed to--you care about people more than money or power. They should all be that good.

Tom is allowed to give a amount to the poor who come and
ask for help.
And then one day a preacher from another church warned Tom, about a person going around , that really did not need the money.....So we started to just give them food. We would bring in food, and fill bags for them with food.

I have to say I do not know which one Tom is doing now.
But I am sure it is some thing. I think it is just money.
One day the men got together or Tom just called and asked every one if he could
give money to a person he heard was OK , and really did need the help.
