I don't see a big difference between dressing sexy and dressing provocatively. To me they are very much the same. I would substitute your wording with dressing to look beautiful, classy, or confident for one category and dressing sexy and/or provocatively to describe the other.

My sons have noticed the ad, and I don't think they should associate my activity on this site with such an ad. Even though I have explained it. My idea of dressing sexy is anywhere from looking dazzling in a formal gown, to the slinky little cocktail dress, to the business dress and/or female pant-suit for business tycoons, to the casual fitting low-cut jeans and the baby-doll t-shirt...I can go on forever. I mean let's face it, some women can look sexy in a snuggie, am I right?

My idea of provocative dress, however, is more like lingerie and stripper gear...you know...stuff that shows the cleavage that we didn't know was there until she waltzed in front of us with it all hanging out...but your definitions work also. Of course, what qualifies as too provocative can often be determined by (geographically)where the clothes are worn.
