There was a time I got upset hearing about protesters. Over the years my feelings have changed on this, and many other things. I'm better informed in my old age. Over 58,000 lives was a terrible price to pay for the results achieved. Thousands more were crippled or will never be the same mentally. I'll bet quite a few would have preferred a little time in jail and a chance to live rather than a flag draped coffin, a Purple Heart, and "the thanks of a grateful nation". Yes, I volunteered, and was very lucky, but after all these years I wonder who was really right. The guys who protested, burned their draft cards, and split for Canada, weren't all afraid to go to war. Some just didn't believe in it. I can't say they were wrong...............
