McCain's team should have studied Hillary Clinton's strategy which knocked her out of the running. Instead you find many similarities to her blunders and the end might well be the same.
(Bringing in Mrs. Palin as a running mate could only have been the idea of someone on whose toes McCain has stepped.)

I guess the fact that McCain wanted to avoid a debate with Obama,...
Really? And that's a "fact" you say?

Yes, McCain wanted to delay that debate because of this economic crisis, at least that's the reason he publicly gave. I would think that the voters would want to see a discussion between Obama and McCain on this issue and others, but that wasn't something McCain seemed to want. I guess that something about a public debate with Obama was making him nervous.

I mean G. W. Bush, since the vast majority of McCain's votes in senate, support Bush, so obviously McCain is not the maverick he likes to paint himself to be.

Oh, I see. I'm sorry. I thought you said McCain wanted to "avoid" a debate. Now that I think about it, I could have sworn you said, "avoid" as opposed to "delay." I guess it's just semantics but to me "avoid" means not doing it at all. "Delay" means putting it off for a period of time. Using the word "avoid" seems to imply a reluctance to debate, with of course would be a silly thing to imply given McCain's previous challenge to Obama to do a whole lot of debating.

Delay and avoid point to the same thing in this case. McCain did not want a debate in which the people of the US would want to see some answer to the economic crisis; he does not have any answers since he is cut from the ideological cloth as the failure currently in the Oval Office.
Of course he was eager for debate in August, since at that time the economy wasn't in the depth of crises it is currently, and his choice for VP was not yet shown to be somewhat sub-par for that office.
McCain is on the back foot, and trailing Obama, so avoiding/delaying debate while increasing use of attack ads, might in his mind help slow down his losses.

It made no sense for these two to debate in the month of August, pre Conventions... At that time they were both ONLY the pressumed nominees. Hillary was still holding on to her pot of gold...(remember Ray?). Only after the conventions were both Obama and McCain officially candidates for the office of CIC.
Speaking of which... THAT ONE is a great slogan gift from Mr."MY FRIENDS"!
You go shopping and see IT! THAT ONE I was looking for, you cry out! Now I found it! Your kids beg: Let me have THAT ONE, please! You want only THAT ONE and nothing else. The Obama campaign can make the most of McCain's gift during the last few days of the contest. Then THAT ONE's supporters must no forget to VOTE!
The voting record of our general population has been dismal, even in presidential elections.

wanderingspryte, the McCain camp will get nastier as we get closer to the election, but these tactics prove that McCain does'nt have a real policy to fix this country ( Otherwise he would state it ) and he is standing on his last legs, and with this perfect storm ( The Economy ) he is sure to lose ( In my oppinion ).
You know CG, I could be wrong but I think Palin knows they've lost this election and she's thinking about 2012. She seems to be the type that would sell you out in a second to make herself look good and to look out for her own agenda ( She could really care less about Mccain and he's just a means to an end ) to maybe run for Congress.

Minnesorta crowd boos McCain today.... The crowd got out of control and demanded that McCain lash out at Obama. When the Senator attempted to establish some order he got bood by his "loyal" followers. His campaign falls apart in front of his eyes. First he, CindyMac and Palin incited his base wherever they showed up and now that McCain sees that this strategy simply pushes people into Obama's corner he wants to change course in midstream.
I really begin to feel sorry for the old boy who became a prisoner once more....this time of a ruthless, stupid bunch that organized his campaign.
