That's it, CG--kim shee!

Btw, when my daughter was modeling in Japan, she was based in Osaka. That's where she fell in love with the noodle bowls.

A couple of months ago, we stopped at a shopping mall called the Great Wall. It's an Asian mall. I was fascinated, while at the grocery store, to see just how much of a pig was offered for sale. I don't think a single part goes unused.

Anyway, while we were there, we stopped at a Korean restaurant and ordered noodle soup. We were served a huge bowl of noodles in broth with the other ingredients, per our orders, in smaller bowls on the side. That's when I learned the Korean's don't serve rolls with their soup.

Ellie was a very picky eater before she traveled. Her tastes are now much more catholic.

I have been at some Korean restaurants where they have a little tabletop stove, consisting of a heating element below a ridged metal cone. They bring out platters of thinly sliced raw beef, and you cook them to your liking on this tabletop grill.

I don't know if they do that in Korea, but it was sure tasty eats.

Kim chee pickles, the pickled cabbage version, is available here, hot or mild. I prefer the hot, but I don't know how authentic it is. I just know I like it.

And incidentally, the MacDonald's on King's Road in Sydney Australia is the worst MacDonald's I've ever eaten at. Just plain terrible. I thought the burgers were made of kangaroo meat.

They may have been--made of kangaroo meat, that is.

Kim Chee does come in two versions. Was what you had particularly smelly? I ask because I've often wondered if the process of making it turned Koreans off, or if it was the taste of the finished product.

Shabu shabu was one of my favorite meals served in all of Japan! What a treat! It is a nabe dish...using a central pot in the middle of the table, the diners boil their tidbits of food, everything from meat, veggies, soya... The end result is a broth, which noodles are boiled into. The meal is finished with the noodles in broth. There is dipping sauces off to the side to flavor the fondue style meat...Delicious!

No, there's no particular unusual smell to it. It's basically a jar of highly pickled cabbage which can be purchased strongly spiced or not. It isn't fermented, as I imagine the Korean stuff is.

Kangaroo meat is tender so the burgers could not be made from that meat. Unlike other countries Mc Donalds here is regarded as at the lower end of restuarents.People only eat there because it is cheap.

Oh, the burgers were tender. They just tasted like crap.

Perhaps it was wombat meat.

I think I have pretty much eaten at a McDonald's in every country I visited... My fav MickyD story is China. It had just opened in Bejing. Our hosts brought it to us to show they cared about our American taste, and wanted us to be happy! lol! I wasn't sure what to do..??? I wasn't in the position to eat any meal...let alone a happy meal! I don't know about any of you, but food from MickyD's and other's like it tend to ignite my body functions.. so I turned it down, by throwing a burger away... It would have been insulting if I had shown I didn't want to eat it OR offering it back to the Chinese, who seemed to want it???

I was right, because later one of our associates who had eaten the happy meal, became very familiar with the use of an authentic Chinese toilet... This particular one had been rotting since Mao's cultural revolution.
