That's it, CG--kim shee!

Btw, when my daughter was modeling in Japan, she was based in Osaka. That's where she fell in love with the noodle bowls.

A couple of months ago, we stopped at a shopping mall called the Great Wall. It's an Asian mall. I was fascinated, while at the grocery store, to see just how much of a pig was offered for sale. I don't think a single part goes unused.

Anyway, while we were there, we stopped at a Korean restaurant and ordered noodle soup. We were served a huge bowl of noodles in broth with the other ingredients, per our orders, in smaller bowls on the side. That's when I learned the Korean's don't serve rolls with their soup.

Ellie was a very picky eater before she traveled. Her tastes are now much more catholic.

I have been at some Korean restaurants where they have a little tabletop stove, consisting of a heating element below a ridged metal cone. They bring out platters of thinly sliced raw beef, and you cook them to your liking on this tabletop grill.

I don't know if they do that in Korea, but it was sure tasty eats.

Kim chee pickles, the pickled cabbage version, is available here, hot or mild. I prefer the hot, but I don't know how authentic it is. I just know I like it.

And incidentally, the MacDonald's on King's Road in Sydney Australia is the worst MacDonald's I've ever eaten at. Just plain terrible. I thought the burgers were made of kangaroo meat.

They may have been--made of kangaroo meat, that is.

Kim Chee does come in two versions. Was what you had particularly smelly? I ask because I've often wondered if the process of making it turned Koreans off, or if it was the taste of the finished product.

Shabu shabu was one of my favorite meals served in all of Japan! What a treat! It is a nabe dish...using a central pot in the middle of the table, the diners boil their tidbits of food, everything from meat, veggies, soya... The end result is a broth, which noodles are boiled into. The meal is finished with the noodles in broth. There is dipping sauces off to the side to flavor the fondue style meat...Delicious!
