Russia knows it has a free hand at this moment and I think it will take part of Georgia if not all of it.

The plans is - Russian troops are located in Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Along the outer side of the boundaries - international observers.
And, I think, NATO - in the proper Geprgia.

Essentially, Elena, what you have been telling us is that Russia is justified in invading pretty much any of its neighbors because they are neighbors and they may have what Russia wants...interesting of you to share the Russian perspective with us.

Law, you are an advocate of a preventive strike idea. What are our perspective? grin

As I know history of 20 century, every war in Europe made USA much wealthier.

Putin's Russia is very different from what Boris Yeltsin envisioned. Europe can't meet it's NATO committments because it's relied on the American Army for decades. The American Army is stretched almost to its breaking point in the Mid-East. In its current move on Georgia, Russia certainly knows all this and is taking advantage of it.

Uncle Ray what am I going to do with you.

Uncle Ray:
Quote:
I know Lawmage's choice of language isn't as colorful as "tricknology" or "extracting the urine" etc. but YOU are the LAST person who ought to complain about the repetition of pet words and phrases.

Note to Dax: NO! I'm NOT telling CassielA that *I* am complaining about repetition of pet words and/or phrases, so don't start off with "So, YOU dare complain about someone else using..." because I'm not, as anyone with even a 7th grade reading comprehension can see. I'm merely commenting on CassielA's complaint.

Believe me or not I was not complaining about Lawmage using the word interesting a lot,I was just interested to know why he kept using that word as many times as he did, that's all.most thinking and aware people view America's foreign policy as nothing more than tricknolgy, this is another reason why Russia is in Georgia.I think that my language is ok saying extracting the urine is better to me on this site than saying taking the piss, don't you agree Ray?

Lawmage:
Quote:
Cassie, it might surprise you (or not) to learn that I think Russia is free to do whatever it thinks it can get away with doing. Russia is a sovereign nation with its own interests and the wherewithal to look after those interests as it sees fit. At the same time, Russia must consider how its actions impact the interests of other nations.

Why should Russia care what the rest of the world thinks of it's actions in Georgia,America does not care about what the world thinks of it's invasion of Iraq. What Russia has done in Georgia is to cut America off at the pass.It is now clear that America had plans for Georgia that now have to be scrapped.

Lawmage:
Quote:
At the same time, Russia is doing ENORMOUS damage to its efforts to integrate into Europe as a partner rather than as an adversary. Frankly, my own assessment is that Russia is actively seeking a military conflict with the West. I suspect it does so in the hopes of regearing its economy and industry. I think that effort is doomed to failure.

I ask you Lawmage has America done enormous damage to it's reputation around the world because of it's invasion of Iraq?I don't think Russia is looking for a conflict with the west I think Russia is upset with America for throwing it's weight around because it believes it can, because it's the only superpower, sad but true.If Russia was looking for a conflict with the west it would start building military bases in Cuba and Venezuela.

More nonsense from CassielA.

Nice attempt at headoff, but I was contemplating no such thing.

I've given you enough crap about repeating pet phrases, which become more meaningless the more they're repeated, however, I think I've made my point and further colloquy on that point serves no purpose.

People can read and decide for themselves.

In my opinion, the US will do nothing in the Russia-Georgia conflict militarily.

I'm not privy to how things work backstage, but I predict that there will be neither USA nor NATO troops rushing into this.

Why? Because we're spread too thin militarily. As John McCain has recently said that he agreed with a woman who suggested that there would have to be a draft to continue combat operations, this may change if McCain attains the presidency.

However at the moment I think that with the exception of Cheney and a few other death mongers in the administration, Bush and Co. has no appetite for further conflict.

That may happen sometime soon to come but what about the coming war in the middleast if the west bombs Iran.I read this on presstv.com.
Quote:
Russian president Dimitry Medvedev and his Syrian counterpart say that the Iranian nuclear issue should be resolved through diplomatic means.
In a press conference in Russia's Black Sea resort of Sochi, President Medvedev and President Bashar Assad backed Iran's right to develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.

The west is busy signing deals with Poland, while Russia is now going to do everything in it's power to stop the west attacking Iran, and if it fails and Iran is attacked Russia is going to make sure that they along with Iran and Syria will be the dominate force in the middleast.Interesting and scary times.
