Cass, you're a Brit.
After WWI and its apparent Naval superiority, England started into its colonialization period. England needed crude to 'power its fleet.' It took over many oil-rich countries, including those in Africa. It allowed the settlement of many of those countries by Brits who took land and turned it into productive land.
I'm not saying that this was either right or wrong. It's what happened.
African nations now want to become their own nations, just as India and Saudi Arabia have become. And I hope they do so; however, as long as African Nations are led by individuals such as Mugabi, will this happen?
What's happening in Darfur, for example. Is there Western genocide going on, is it Muslim genocide or it African genocide?
When you say, the 'West,' do you include England?
