Will there be a Congressional Declarion of when the war has finished. Modern wars particarly if they invove terrorism never end. The Korean war has never been declare to have ended. I am not sure Congress has even said the Veitnam war was over.

I know you're probably too young to remember stuff that happened w-a-y back in 1973 but I think I vaguely recall something or other called the Paris Peace Accords. I suppose one could google it and see what happened.

As there was never a declaration of war between the USA and North Vietnam, everyone who says the Vietnam war is over is correct.

For your information there was a thing called The Pentagon Papers that proved the Kissington offer to withdraw as early as 1972. In January 1973 Nixon signed a peace treaty with North Vietnam. He claimed to have agree to peace with honour as he said the North Vietnamese had agree to a peace treaty to prevent further bombing. American prisoners were released and American troops withdrawn from Vietnam. Kissington secret trip was not endorsed by the American congress.

Of course to the Communist the American war was not finished until they march into Saigon in April 1975. The South Vietnamese begged for money but congress refused. So the congress role was to abandon the South Vietnamese government to their fate.

I could ask you to say why However even we are too young for this and I am sure Google has the "answer". What I am more interested is how we can prevent the Iraq war ending the same way as Vietnam.

A casual reading of the posts above would reveal that I did not respond to Aus22's post about Vietnam much less respond to only part of it...A casual reading would reveal that I did not call Aus22 too young for anything. Of course, all this assumes the casual reader actually understands written English...On the other hand, if the casual reader were senile and illiterate that reader might understandably be confused as to who said what to whom.

Law, I believe Aus was responding to a post by Ray, and not by you, but got the two of you confused, perhaps because of physical appearance, perhaps because of political views, I don't know.

Thanks Dax, I did mean Henry Kissinger. I afraid I wrote my post too quickly. I do not think Lawmage and Ray look the same so there must be another reason for the confusion.
