Apparently, Jesse Jackson disliked some comments that Obama made about the fathers of the children of single mothers. Jackson took the Obama comments as being "talking down to black people". You can see the comments Jackson made here.

Is Jesse being over sensitive to the remarks Obama made and which triggered Jackson's comments?

Apparently at some point Jesse also made comments about Obama which involved the word "nigger", but I don't think that Fox News has released that segment of the recording yet. If he did say that, then Jackson is also a hypocrite of the first degree.

It would be very interesting to see the full recording, in order to see the remarks and words used in the correct context without any extra editing by Fox News.

Jesse's time has come and gone. He will most likely never be America's First Black President. I would imagine he has his dander up about this.

Cutting nuts off...goes back to a sad time in American history when caucasian men would literally cut the testicles off black men suspected of lusting after caucasian women. They were referred to as "niggers".

What Jesse is essentially saying is I want to cut Obama's nuts off because he is fornicating with white men. He is a nigger.

I think you are way off in left field on this one. "Niggers" means simply black skinned--with many other connotations, but it has always referred to all blacks, most often to all Africans. Castration of blacks suspected of lusting after white women was common in some parts of US in the not-so-far past, but there is not--and never has been-- any restriction of the perjorative "nigger" to the victims.

Oh, make no mistake BB, I am well aware of the many applications of the word "nigger". No where in my post did I refer to an exclusive use of the word. BUT, when cutting the nuts off (testicles) these blacks were also called "niggers"... The possibility that Jackson called Obama a nigger while wishing to cut his nuts off...in my opinion means he feels Obama is "fornicating" with the white. Again this is just my opinion of what Jackson means. A deeper translation would be, I'm pissed that young good looking kid with a great voice has taken my place...

The word "nigger" derives from the southern-accented corruption of the word Negro to Nigra. Polite southerners before the language changed referred to blacks as "nigras" by which they meant no insult, but were merely saying Negro southern-style.

The corruption to "nigger" was just a small step, but there is a huge difference between those words, as the word nigger is ALWAYS used pejoratively by whites when speaking of blacks, and is always a hate word.

Re Jesse Jackson, I'm truly baffled by this incident, not because I think Jackson is an honest broker or person of high moral standing, but because the man has been on the sets of news programs forever. He absolutely knows that the cardinal rule on any set is not to say anything untoward, because there are mics and cameras and reporters everywhere.

So I agree with CG that at least subconsciously, and possibly even consciously, Jackson knew what he was doing. THe real question is, why did he want to attempt to hurt Obama in that way?

You are entitled to your opinion. I was only referring to your statement that I quoted, which is just plain incorrect. If you go back and take a second look at your statement it is clear that, intentionally or not, you were saying that nigger means a black that is going to be castrated. You could just as easily said "man".

I have heard a pundit or two suggest that Jesse Jackson knew exactly what he was doing and that this was, in reverse, Barrack Obama's "Sister Souljah Moment." The only thing different was that Barrack Obama didn't have to utter a word to distance himself "those people."

The subliminal message being sent to middle class white America being that was if Jesse Jackson thinks Barrack Obama is a turd, then Obama must be a real mensch that white folks can feel safe and comfortable voting for.

Do you really think that Jesse Jackson's ego would permit him to make a move such as you describe?
