Well, the second week of the Wimbledon tennis tournement is underway, and what a start to the week!

On Centre Court, Britain's Andy Murray came back from 2 sets and a break of serve down in the 3rd set to win 5-7 3-6 7-6 (7-3) 6-2 6-4. Other marathon games included Mario Ancic's 3-6 4-6 6-3 6-4 13-11 victory over Verdasco. Elsewhere, both top seeds, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal eased through to the quarter-finals.

In the ladies, both Williams sisters won through to the quarter-finals with straight sets victories.

After today's action, particularly to two five-setters that I saw, I was reminded of what makes Wimbledon such a special event. In Murray's match, the crowd were fantastic, really lifting the home favourite. They way Murray fed off the crowd's energy, and then how they fed off his, really was a reminder of what sport is all about: The give and take between the players and the fans.

It was a night to remember. I just hope the rest of the week is just as good.

Well what did you think of the men's final then Jack....soooo close it was hard to call.

Its amazing how Federer looked so cool and tidy all through the match whereas Nadal looked like he had actually played sport!!!

Admittedly I haven't watched a great deal of tennis. Used to play a little of it decades ago. However, that final between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal was the greatest singles match I've ever seen. The drama of Federer making his comeback after being down two sets to none, and the entire match coming down to the wire with darkness closing in couldn't have been any better had it been scripted in Hollywood.

I will remember this epic struggle between champions for a long time.

The Men's Final was fantastic. I watched the 3rd and 4th sets, and I watched part of the 5th in between watching something else, and I saw the exciting climax. It was definately one for the ages, a true classic, worthy of a Grand Slam final.

A quick shout for 14 year old Laura Robson, who became the first British player to win the Girls' Singles title since 1984, with a 6-3 3-6 6-1 win on Court 1 on Saturday. Another tense game, which although lacked some of the power of the senior game, was in no way lacking in skill.
