Well, the second week of the Wimbledon tennis tournement is underway, and what a start to the week!
On Centre Court, Britain's Andy Murray came back from 2 sets and a break of serve down in the 3rd set to win 5-7 3-6 7-6 (7-3) 6-2 6-4. Other marathon games included Mario Ancic's 3-6 4-6 6-3 6-4 13-11 victory over Verdasco. Elsewhere, both top seeds, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal eased through to the quarter-finals.
In the ladies, both Williams sisters won through to the quarter-finals with straight sets victories.
After today's action, particularly to two five-setters that I saw, I was reminded of what makes Wimbledon such a special event. In Murray's match, the crowd were fantastic, really lifting the home favourite. They way Murray fed off the crowd's energy, and then how they fed off his, really was a reminder of what sport is all about: The give and take between the players and the fans.
It was a night to remember. I just hope the rest of the week is just as good.
