FOR A LONG, HAPPY LIFE..........

The famous poet, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, was once asked how he manged a long and a happy life. Pointing to an apple tree, the writer remarked, "The secret of the apple tree is that it grows a little new wood each year. That's what I try to do."
No matter what age you are, it is important to continue to grow spiritually each day, each month, each year.
such a spiritual growth requires constant Bible study.
Why not start growing a little "new wood" now, by reading at least once chapter from the Bible each day?
You will be blessed for it.

Most people are bothered by these passages of
scripture they o not understand.
But the passages that bother me are those I do understand.

JUST FOR FUN..... LIFE IN THE 1500'S

Baths consisted of a big tub filled with hot water. The man of the house had the privilege of the nice clean water, then all the other sons and men, then the women and finally the children. Last of all the babies. By then the water was so dirty you could actually lose someone in it. Hence the saying. "Don't throw the baby out with the bath water."

WHAT WE LEARN FROM CHILDREN

Last week I took my children to a restaurant. My six-year-old son asked if he could say grace. As we bowed our heads he said, "God is good God is great Thank you for the food , and I would even thank you more if Mom gets us ice cream for dessert. And Liberty and justice for all ! Amen!"

Along with the laughter from other customers nearby I heard a woman remark, "That's what's wrong with this country. Kids today don't even know how to pray. Asking God for ice-cream! Why, I never!"

Hearing this my son burst into tears and asked me, "Did I do it wrong? Is God mad at me?"

As I held him and assured him that he had done a terrific job and God was certainly not mad at him, and elderly gentleman approached the table. He winked at my son and said," I happen to know that God thought that was a great prayer."

"Really?" my son asked.

"Cross my heart," the man replied. Then in a theatrical whisper he added [indicating the woman], "Too bad she never asks God for ice cream. A little ice cream is good for the soul sometimes."

Naturally, I bought my kids ice cream at the end of the meal. My son stared at his for a moment and then did something I will remember the rest of my life. He picked up his sundae and, without a word, walked over and placed it in front of the women. With a big smile he told her, "Here, this is for you. Ice cream is good for the soul sometimes, and my soul is good already."

If evolution is true, why do mothers still have only two hands ?

Because a mutation for a third hand never happened, which would have to occur for it be selected by the environment as being a favorable trait. and thus be present in todays human beings.

Oh you liar! You are NOT sorry. You're no better than the "fundies" who go traipsing into the Pagan Circle in order to do some pagan bashing. You couldn't resist the chance to be contentious even in a "humor" thread. Tsk, tsk, tsk. crazy

It's OK Grams, you just pay no mind to that whipper snapper evolutionista.

There's a wonderful place called heaven
where joy will never cease:
No words can describe its glory
and its never ending peace;
There the redeemed of the Lord are going
saved by God's abounding grace,
By faith in Christ the Savior
Who died for the human race.

Are you really going to heaven,
Or do you doubt and hope and guess ?
If your trust is in Christ Jesus,
Your answer should be 'yes'
God's Son came down fro heaven and
He took the sinner's place;
By faith in Christ the Savior, we're
Forever saved by grace.

Just for fun...........

1. How many Charismatics does it take to change a light bulb?
One to change the bulb and nine to pray against the spirit
of darkness.

2. How many Calvinists does it take to change a light bulb?
None. God has predestined when the light will be on.
Calvinists do not change light bulbs. They simply read
the instructions and pray the light bulb will be one that has
been chosen to be changed.

3. How many Armenians does it take to change a light bulb?
All. They need everyone to make sure it stays on. One
can never really be sure.

4. How many Baptists does it take to change a light bulb?
Change ????

5. How many neo-orthodox does it take to change a bulb?
No one knows. They can't tell the difference between
light and dark.

6. How many TV evangelists does it take to change a light bulb?
One. But for the message of light to continue, send in
your donation today.

7. How many independent fundamentalists does it take to
change a light bulb?
Only one, because any more might result in too much
cooperation.

In a tribe of Indians, someone was stealing chickens.
The chief declared that, if caught, the offender would receive 10 lashes.
When the stealing continued, he raied it to 20 lashes. Still the chickens methodically disappeard. In anger the chief raised the sentence to 100 lashes ~ a sure sentence of death.

The thief was finally caught. But the chief faced a terrible dilemma. The thief was his own mother !

When the day of the penalty came, the whole tribe gathered. Would the chief's love override his justice? The crowd gasped when he ordered his mother to be tied to the whipping post. The chief removed his shirt, revealin his powerful stature, and took the whip in hand. But instead of raising it to strike the first blow, he handed it to a strong, young brave at his side.

Slowly the chief walked over to his mother and wrapped his massive arms around her in a engulfing embrace. Then he order the brave to give him the 100 lashes.

That's what Jesus did for us. In love, he became our substitute and died in our place. He overcame our inability to save ourselves by praying the price for our sins. He satisfied the requirement for absolute justice with his absolute love. Christ gave his life in exchange for our legal release from sin.
