It was constantly said that dispersing of clouds is carried out in an environmentally-friendly manner. It was said that the reagents are AgI, liquid nitrogen and crystals of ice. I believed it until last week a box of concrete suddenly fell out from the sky and made a hole in the roof of the house nearby Moscow. It happened while aviation was dispersing clouds because of Day of Russia. Technologies? I just don’t have any words. confused

OK, I'll bite. What is the rest of the story? Were they using the box of concrete as movable ballast to compensate for off-loading their payload in the air--and it got away from them?

I've heard of seedin clouds for rain but not too much of dispersing them for a nice sunny day. Where do they go when they get chased off?

Your use of "concrete" threw me off. Just a translation problem. In English (American English, anyway), concrete=cement+sand+rocks, either semi-fluid or hardened. I take it you meant a box of unhardened dry cement. If they are using cement to seed clouds, I can see your concern. I wonder if you would have to drill holes in the top layer of your dirt in order to plant seeds.

Hey, your English is much better than most of the Russians (and some from other former Soviet Union countries) living here--and there are a lot! For some reason Seattle has been a favorite destination for immigrants over the last couple of decades. The largest group seems to be from India (Microsoft programmers).

There are a lot of Russian programmers in Microsoft as well. That is why they have chosen Seattle.
