If the AIDS virus were munching on human brains, it would likely come down with kuru, a disease caused only by such activity.
Kuru symptoms are similar to those of mad cow disease.
The AIDS virus chomping on human brains would likely start staggering around and gradually develop nerve degeneration until it expired.
In my opinion, doctors would be unlikely to treat an AIDS virus that showed up in an emergency room with such symptoms, as the virus is tiny and unable to describe what is wrong with it to attending physicians.
Perhaps if the AIDS virus grew smart enough to mimic human speech, and was large enough, and had money enough to call a cab to take it to a hospital, there would be a problem, but frankly, although I'm not a doctor, I don't see that happening.
And thinking about what we know today concerning how AIDS is spread, the brain the virus would be munching on would be a rather stupid one, so I think we're out of the woods on this.

AIDS zombies! I call dibs on the flame thrower to kill the zombies and the AIDS in one shot. But no, I don't think AIDS will get smart if it eats on brains. That reminds me of a crawfish joke. Do you suck the heads? Eww! No! Why, afraid you might learn something?

AIDS, or rather the HIV virus "munching on people's BRAINS"? What makes you think the virus prefers brain tissue over other types of tissue?
For a virus to actually "gain intellligence", I'm just guessing that it would have to be at least as big as a single brain cell first, and a virus is many many times smaller than a cell is.
And you know how smart a single human brain cell is? Not very. Single cells, even if they are neurons, aren't "intelligent" at all. They aren't any more intelligent than the single cells in a mouse scrotum, for example.
My thoughts about the HIV virus being transmitted through sexual contact (and blood and other body fluid exchange) are that it would make the virus no more intelligent than syphillis, which "thought of" sexual tranmission first, if you want to phrase it that way. And syphillis actually *does* "munch on" brain and nervous system tissue, if that tends to make you think of spirochetes as more intelligent.

Aids is a virus. It mutates. The only resemblance it has to 'mutants from Mars' (the movie) is folks actually go to see that movie. These folks are usually referred to as 'kids' or even 'addicts' or worse, 'big dummies'
However, 'Single Celled Mouse Scrotums' could have potential as a hit movie. Now THAT .. is a title that grabs ya!
Ya just gotta wonder where (ahem) a writer would come up with a 'Title' like that?
I'd go see it, but I would NOT eat the popcorn. Mouse droppings end up in all sorts of weird places, like Connecticut. Probably a hole in the bottom of the box anyways.
I'm just saying, ok?
If Helice can advance and evolve from a single-celled nervous system tissue cell .. to administrator of a site like FM, anything is possible. After all, this is the U.S. of A.
Pass the rollmops, please. At least they cut the heads off the herring before they pickle 'em. No chance of getting smarter, thusly.
Ain't just may be on to sumptin.
We will never know exactly WHAT he may be on to. His solution to all things is 'where's my flame thrower'?
Speaking of Amoeba!
Postscrap: Ignore ALL of Helices' posts, ok? Just because she got thru grade 2 after only 3 tries, does not make her smarter than those of us who spent many many yrs trying to tie our shoelaces.

Simply NOT true Thinker.
Married people who are, as you say 'true' to each other do get AIDS!
Lets look at how people can get AIDS. Unprotected sexual relations, blood transfusions, sharing needles, and on and on it goes.
Are you saying that a nurse or doctor, emergency services worker, dentists, are all 'unfaithful' to their partner?
PLEASE, it is this sort of stupid morally based arguments that make the AIDS epidemic even more difficult to combat.
Health workers can and do contract AIDS, while putting their own safety at risk to protect yours and mine.
