After kissing a cute frog, I developed mono at the age of 13. It is dreadful. You must rest. I mean REST! Through out my teen years I had many relapses, then it all went away when I was in college. The sore throat is horribly painful! If you are an adult, and haven't an aversion to alcohol gargle with Jack Daniels. It has a numbing effect.

You can get Mono ones. Its kindda like chicken pocs its better to get mono as a teen more painfull as an Adult well thats what my doctor told me .If u get mono and you had it more then 2 months go to the Emergency room they will put u to sleep for few days and u wake up its all better

I have never had "mono" to the best of my knowledge, but I think its a viral infection, therefore antibotics would not help it. Perhaps some supplements that boost immune system health might help, but I am not a doctor therefore I can make no recommendation.

No there is not a vaccine for mono. Myr, you would know if you had it. It is very disabilitating. I can't imagine having it as an adult. Adults tend to catch Barr-Epstein, another viral disease similar to mono. The only cure for mono is to rest a lot. The sore throat aspect of it is hideously painful!

Barr-Epstein can cause certain immune system over-reactions, and might be associated with certain auto-immune diseases.

No, antibiotics aren't going to help with the mono, but when you get mono your resistence is weakened so much that you can catch many other germs. When I had mono as a teenager I did end up getting a big shot of antibiotics and it did wonders for me.

Despite what one may think you can have reoccurrences of mono, and once you've had it the virus remains in your body for the rest of your life. I've had mono several times, but it was typically brought on when I had a sore throat and my resistance was very low.

Another thing that I've found that is good for fighting sore throats among chicken broth and gargling, is a teaspoon of honey. The honey coats the throat, and the natural bacterias in honey help to fight off the illness, but if you have a sore throat that continues or worsens it's best to seek medical help.

One of the treatments recommended to relief the pain and swelling from a mono or EBV sore throat are steroids. I did not have this prescribed....this might be a relatively new treatment for this symptom.

sore throat? Rum and freshly squeezed lemon juice. It may not fix it but you'll feel better. (and think you can dance well, sing on key, are irresistable to the opposite gender, can take on anyone in a fight, etc, etc.)
