On my way to work this morning, gas prices were $2.61. When I went out for my lunch break at 1pm, gas prices had gone up to $2.81. On my way home from work at 4:30pm, gas prices had gone up to $2.99. All this at the same gas station across the street from where I work, mind you. Well, that is my gas price update for the day. Thank you and happy driving.

I say more tax breaks for the oil companies!

Come on, those companies work very hard on our behalf, and they really need the tax breaks.

Apparently it's 'due' to the problems with Katrina. Nevermind that it will take 6 months for that shortage to actually effect what we get out of a pump...

Gas prices are predicted to soar in the wake of katrina. $5 a gallon are expected.

The Bush family fortune continues to be funded by which of the following?

a) oil
b) medicines & pharmaceuticals
c) hurricane relief supplies
d) bullets

And I suppose we can surmise from Dax's attack on Bush that had Al Gore won the 2000 election this hurricane would not have impacted the price of gas, despite its disruption of Gulf oil production and Gulf Coast refinery operations...?

Damn, Dax, we know you dislike, even despise, hell lets admit that you HATE the man...He invented mosquitos, taxes are his idea, I have even heard he is mean to orphans and kicks puppies...But for the love of all you hold holy, find something else to bitch about.

I think that this fabricated oil shortage is a joke. I live about 90 miles from a refinery in Wyoming. That refinery gets its oil from oil fields in Wyoming, and is actually pumped directly to the refinery. In our area there is no reason that fuel should cost what it does. We should be paying like 75 cents a gallon, since we arent buying the oil off a supertanker, but producing it locally. I know that other regions would be upset that the midwest was catching a break.
I have lost a lot of respect for President Bush. Why cant the oil industry be as regulated as public utilities and phone rates are regulated! I am sick and tired of big oil companies calling the shots in this country, they seem to have Washington by thier private parts.

Sure, when you point out where I said Bush caused the hurricane I'll gladly back off.

What I did say was that he is responsible for the lack of funding for improvement of the levee system in 2003, after a FEMA report in 2002 said that a major hurricane hitting the Gulf ports was all but inevitable. In other words, his reaction to the report was to ignore it and do what he wanted, like he always does. Faced with the FEMA report, his response was to cut funding for levee reconstruction by 40%.

Unfortunately, the people of the Gulf coast are the ones paying for his donkey-like stubborness and refusal to listen to anyone but Cheney, Rove, and the voices in his head. Some may continue to think he's the gold standard, but more and more people are seeing the tarnish.
