Cassie, the American Government isn't telling the Sudanese Government to do anything. The United Nations are. You know, the United Nations who you jumped up and down about America ignoring? Now, why is it OK for Sudan to ignore the U.N, but not America?
The fact of the matter is, people in Dar Fur are dying in their thousands. The Sudanese Government couldn't care less. But of course, that's OK isn't it Cassie? Afterall, African governments can do whatever the hell they like, and it's OK by you.

After an emergency meeting of Arab Foreign Ministers last Sunday, the Arab League said it opposes sanctions against Sudan that might be implemented by the United Nations.

The United Nations and Sudan have signed a deal as per which the latter will take "detailed steps" in the next 30 days to disarm the militias responsible for attacks in Darfur and improve security for the internally displaced persons (IDPs).

The only problem with the agreement is that it cannot be implemented until the Sudanese parliament approves it----and apparently, there are no penalties if the 30 day period (whenever it begins) is not fulfilled.
Actually, 30 days is a very short time when it comes to government actions so my personal opinion is that the agreement was designed to fail while appeasing those who do not find it economically feasible to agree to sanctions--good for at least 30 days --perhaps even longer, depending on the Sudanese parliament.
And, when nothing changes, I guess the USA will get blamed for not taking independent action...We're damned if we do, and damned if we don't.
